My Story

HI! I’m Haven Casteel, and I’ll soon be a senior at Marshall High School in Marshall, MO, graduating in May 2026. I actually live in the tiny town of Blackwater, MO, but since we don’t have our own high school, I chose Marshall as my alma mater.

Honestly, I can’t remember a time when softball wasn’t a huge part of my life. I started playing when I was just two years old with the YMCA and local youth leagues, and by the time I was nine, I joined a 12U travel team—and I’ve been playing ever since. For a while, I balanced multiple sports, including volleyball, archery, basketball, and even taekwondo, but after two ACL surgeries from basketball took me out my freshman and sophomore years, I decided to go all-in on softball.

Outside of softball, I’m all about the outdoors. Whether it’s fishing, hunting, or soaking up the sun at the beach with my family, I’m happiest when I’m outside. I also love swimming, watching movies, and getting lost in a good book when I need some downtime. My church youth group is a huge part of my life—it’s basically my second family, and I truly cherish the time I spend there. I keep busy with two part-time jobs too—prepping meals for a healthy food company and umpiring youth softball games at Marshall Youth Association.

Looking ahead, I have some big dreams. Marine biology has always fascinated me, and I hope to one day become an aquatic veterinarian. But I’m also very interested in CSI and underwater forensics, and nursing is definitely on my radar too. No matter where I end up, I know I want to make a difference and help others.

Thanks for taking the time to get to know me!
